This is based on the amphibolite entry from the 1911 Encyclopaedia Britannica, now a public domain work. There are some pros and cons to using a one-hundred year old reference. An important aspect for non-professionals is, technical articles like this at the turn of the century were written to be meaningful without advanced equipment which the average person will not have. The text for the original article was obtained from the Gutenberg Project file for Vol.I. The archaic abbreviation for et cetera - &c - was replaced with the current 'etc', Wikipedia terms were formatted, the leading word was made HTML-bold, and HTML quotes were attached. 1911 Encyclopaedia Britannica Amphibolite entry follows
